**Pittsburg Church of God Highlights**

Change Wars 2015 is fast approaching and begins on April 5th.  Last year over $10,400 was raised, and this year will be bigger and better than ever.  You know Pastor's motto, "Go Big, or Go Home".  The goal for 2015 has been set at $20,000.  Please view our change_wars link (or click on image above) for information on this year's mission project and to view the upcoming schedule.  This year the Boys team will be led by Taylor Smithson, and the Girls team will be led by John(-etta) Smithson.

As we approach Change Wars 2015 we have several fundraising opportunities for you to participate in.  Please visit the events page for more information on these opportunities.

For Adults on Wednesday night we are doing a verse by verse study in the book of 1 Corinthians.  This is an intriguing book and study on the church at Corinth located in the midst of a carnal society.  Each study is preceded by a time of prayer and begins at 6:30 pm.  If you have prayer requests please share those with Pastor Mark, Pastor Doug, or Larry Norris.  You can also email those to the church email at pittsburgchurchofgod@yahoo.com.

We are proud to introduce our PCOG app for your smart phone.  Just go to your App Store on your smart phone and download the "Church of God" Bible and Journal App.  After you install the app, it will prompt you to search for your church.  Search for "Pittsburg Church of God", and then choose it from the list.  After this, every time you open the app it will automatically direct you to our app.

The app features--directions to the church, links to the website, link to our Facebook, the ability to give from your phone, links to upcoming events, a Bible app and daily Bible reading plan, and much more.  You can even listen to the Bible through the app, and follow along with Today's sermon with the sermon notes right on your phone.

We are in the early stages of building the app, so be checking it for more updates.

Lent began on February 18th, and we are doing daily devotions from the Devotional Book, "Journey to the Cross" .  You can download the book for free at the following link:  http://s.b5z.net/i/u/10088553/f/Journey-to-the-Cross.pdf  Special thanks for the book goes to the Providence Church, Austin, TX.  Used by permisson.

Lent is the 40 days leading up to Easter.  It is a season of preparation and repentance during which we anticipate Good Friday and Easter.  The preparation, whether it be by fasting or Bible Study, is aimed at grasping the intense significance of the crucifixion, and a deeper longing for the resurrection.  We will be sending out daily devotions via email, the smart app, and on the website.  Join us on THE JOURNEY TO THE CROSS this Lenten season.  You can learn more about Lent at our what_is_lent_2 page.

We will be having a Passover Meal and presentation on Friday, April 3rd @ 6:00 pm at the church.  The cost will be $10 a person.  Please RSVP to Pastor Doug to reserve your spot.

In observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Pittsburg Church of God will be having a special service on Sunday, April 12th during the morning worship service.  We will have a special speaker, Irene Starr, from the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education.  The daughter of a Holocaust survivor, Irene will be sharing personal stories of what her family went through.  Please join us for this special service.

Pastor Mark is in the midst of a sermon series on the life of King David.  David was a man who experienced the highs and lows in life and someone most of us can relate to.  Come join us as we study the life of a man after God's own heart.

Most of Pastor Mark's sermons are available on audio CD.  They are in the church foyer, or an order form can be viewed here http://s.b5z.net/i/u/10088553/f/CDORDER.pdf

One of the fundraisers we have for Change Wars is gifts from the Holy Land.  These gifts are hand crafted out of olivewood by 10 Christian families in Bethlehem.  They are very nice gifts at a reasonable price, and 25% of the sales we make go directly to support Israel.  Take an opportunity to visit the website at the link below to learn more about this worthwhile project.  You can download the catalog and order form here:  http://s.b5z.net/i/u/10088553/f/HolyLandGifts.pdf

Items are also on display at the church.  Please turn in your order to Pastor Mark.
