Pittsburg Church of God Highlights
Fearless is coming November 1st from 5-8 pm! This is our biggest outreach event and will include the entertainment and ministry of The Crazy Tie Guy, Nathan Dorrell! The Crazy Tie Guy is a Christian juggler and entertainer from Tennesse who mixes circus fun and faith in a unique, amazing experience that leaves audiences in awe of JESUS! In addition, there will be hot dogs, bounc houses, cotton candy, snacks, face painting, photo booth, and a hay ride for the little ones! Everything is free and will include something for the whole family. Mark your calendars, and be sure to invite all your family and friends to this great event!
We are excited to announce that we have added a new member to our ministry team. Pastor Doug Trudell has joined our ministry team, and will be launching a new Young Adult Ministry and become our Assistant Pastor. Pastor Doug is a licensed minister in the Church of God, and has served as Youth Pastor at Harbor Lights in Gladstone, Michigan for the past 10 years. Look for upcoming events and activities for our Young Adults. Welcome aboard, Doug!
Every year we help gather shoeboxes and fill them with toys for Operation Christmas Child. The shoeboxes are due this year no later than November 9th so they will have time to be shipped around the world by Christmas. You can begin bringing in your filled shoeboxes at any time with $7 inside the box for shipping and handling. Get into the Christmas spirit early by giving to a child in need.
If you would like to join us for trunk or treat, we will be setting up on Broadway between 5th and 6th street on Friday, October 31st. We need to be there no later than 4:45 pm. See Glenn Bliss for more details and let him know if you plan on being there.
Pastor Mark has begun a new sermon series on the life of King David. David was a man who experienced the highs and lows in life and someone most of us can relate to. Don't miss this exciting series!
It's about time to start on the Christmas program. If you are interested in being in this year's program, please get with Assistant Pastor Doug. Doug will be directing the program this year, and could use all willing volunteers. We had a good turnout at our initial meeting, so if you are interested, and weren't able to make it, just get with Doug asap.
Sunday morning, November 23rd, we will be having a special "Thanksgiving" Service. We will have a special service filled with testimonies, songs, and worship. Immediately after service we will have a Thanksgiving Potluck Lunch in the Fellowship Hall. The theme of the service will be "Behind the Music" and we are asking people to share a worship song or Hymn that means a lot to you and why. If you have a song that has really spoken to you, and you would like to share, please see Pastor Mark to see how you can be involved in the service.
We have made a change to our Wednesday night Adult program. We have started a new study on the book of 1 Corinthians. We will be doing a verse by verse study, preceded by a time of prayer. Bible study begins at 6:30 pm, and if you have prayer requests please share those with Pastor Mark or Larry Norris. You can also email those to the church email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our first Young Adult Fellowship will be held at Pastor Doug's home at 751 S. 196th Street. It will be held immediately after morning service and Lunch will be served. See Pastor Doug for what you need to bring. Bring Zombie themed foods. This fellowship is for ages 18-30.
